Entropy Media: Davis Museum and Cultural Center

This interactive touch screen kiosk accompanies a newly acquired ex-voto (religious) painting of breast cancer surgery in the 1800s. The project is in Flash and provides information about the painting, ex-votos in general, the conservation work done on the piece, and several related works hanging with the main piece. The project includes sound and video clips, essays by Wellesley professors, and translations of the Spanish text from the paintings.

The design of this project combines the colors of the original painting with the clean style, lines, and fonts used throughout the Davis Museum. The homepage also features a close-up of the woman receiving the surgery and the saint she thanks for helping her through it.
